It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
